| Report | The forecast for the first nice and warm weekend at New Paltz, NY was reason enough to get the first local rock climbing trip (after a week of awesome rock climbing at the Red River Gorge, KY) going. After picking up Jennifer, still irritated from the last night’s events at her house, we were on our way to the Gunks at 7:30. In sunny weather we started climbing two moderate two-pitch routes. Luke climbed ‘Frog’s Head’ followed by Ben and Alex and Rayko and Jennifer climbed ‘Maria’. After running up the first pitch of ‘City Lights’ we decided to increase the difficulty and everybody climbed the first pitch of ‘Drunkards Delight’ and ‘Morning After’. Luke and Rayko finished the second pitch of ‘Drunkards Delight’ to clean the gear anchor and we were back on the road at Sunset, stopping for greasy Chinese food in Liberty, and arriving at Japes late night. Rock season is definitively open. |
