*** Upcoming trips
Paddling
* Kayak pool session will be held on Sunday 11/20 in the evening. This
is the best and cleanest way to learn to roll. There's still space,
but e-mail Ari (ate2) ASAP. Bring $5 in exact change.
Climbing education
* Don (don@isc.astro.cornell.edu) will hold some seminars on
self-rescue on Thursdays at 6:30PM. Each seminar will be somewhat
independent of the others. Limited to 6 people.
Caving
* Mapping trip on Saturday: Contact Kara (klp37) if you are interested
in mapping; you will need to have been caving before.
* Vertical trip on Sunday: Contact Simeon (simeon@cs.cornell.edu) if
interested; open only to those who have had vertical training. There
may be a horizontal option.
These two trips are actually sharing transportation, so depending on
the actual arrangements, it may or may not be possible to just go on
one day.
Hiking
* Matt (matt@clarityconnect.com) wants to go on a local hike
Saturday morning. Contact him for details. Wear bright orange!
*** Gear Night: Brendan, Thursday 6PM-7PM
*** Announcements
* Hunting season has begun! There may be hunters in any park / hiking
area, even if not officially allowed. Wear bright orange if you're
out.
* To undergrads: We are here to help you de-stress, and help you
maintain balance in your life. Please come out on trips.
* Wilderness First Aid (WFA) and Wilderness First Responder (WFR)
classes will be offered by COE at a discount, and subsidized by COC,
for active members. Matt (matt@clarityconnect.com) is putting
together a list of interested parties, please e-mail him right away.
WFA will be offered during the spring semester, and is a 2-day
course.
WFR will be offered in January, around New Year (during break). It
is a 8-day course.
* Jason (jm349) wants to hold another vertical techniques session
in trees; e-mail him if interested.
* Matt (matt@clarityconnect.com) wants education programs. Some
suggestions for topics are:
1. Topics in first aid
2. Rope techniques for climbing
He's interested in other suggestions as well.
* Please check out & use the club's library resources. Let Rima
(camljockey@hotmail.com) know if you have suggestions for more
content to acquire.
* Don't be a slimey toad! Bring back overdue library books.
* Brad (bpl24) is writing a paper on the Gorges at Cornell, and is
interested in stories and historical information.
* Melodramatics are playing Batboy the Musical
(http://melodramatics.com/) November 11-20. Tickets are $5. There is
a group going Thursday; contact Ari (ate2).
* Cornell University Jazz Ensembles is holding serveral concerts this
weekend:
* Friday @ 8PM: Jazz Emsemble 2 and Gussman Septet
* Saturday @ 2PM: Master class for drummers (Lincoln B21)
* Saturday @ 8PM: Jazz Emsemble 1
with Carl Allen at the drums. All free, and at Barnes Hall (unless
otherwise specified).
*** Trips past
* Jason held a verticial tree session.
* Carlos and Rima biked to Danby for cleanup along a section of the
Fingerlakes Trail, with Anne and Herbert.
* Luke climbed in Connecticut
* Annegret, Stefan, and Rayko climbed at the Gunks
* Seven people cave surveyed at Barker Cave, near Schoharie. See trips
that will be for continuation.
