*** Trips past
* Don, Mike, Aaron, Luke, and Kyle went on a two-day beginner climbing
trip to Peterskills & the Gunks this past weekend. There were 8
beginners are 4 leads.
* Katie led a backpacking trip to the Adirondack high peaks over the
weekend.
* Ari, Annegret, Sarah, and Stefan did an 18 mile day hike through Dix
range in the Adirondacks, and did some climbing at Beer Walls.
* Kara went to the Fall NRO, and caved in some pretty marble caves in
Western Massachusetts. She also saw a cool slideshow about caving in
salt deposits ; rainwater can carve caves very quickly in salt
deposits.
* Matt, Neil, and Steve dayhiked on a portion of the Fingerlakes
Trail, on the eastern side of Connecticut Hill. Note that some
trails (including trailheads) have moved, so budget some extra time
to find the new locations.
* Robbert, Keith, and Brendan participated in bike polo on
unicycles at Cass Park.
* The regular Monday unicycling get-together had ~25 unicyclers.
* Leslie went to a climbers' wedding, which was held at the base of a
waterfall. Nearby, there is actually top-ropable sandstone, and the
area is an ice climbing route in the winter. Afterwards, she went to
Little Falls.
* Jason went to Katahdin, Maine. There were 50-60 mph winds,
which blew down lots of trees in and around the parking lot. These
winds made the hike to the summit interesting.
* Alan joined a spontaneous mountain biking trip to Shindagin on
Saturday. If interested in mountain biking whenever, e-mail him
(ashieh@cs.cornell.edu).
*** Educational program
* Brendan: Unicycling around the lake as part of the AIDS RIDE for
Life fundraiser.
