Brendan (bsk25) will go unicycling with Finger Lakes One-Wheelers. This is a recurring activity, at the same place. Extra unicycles will be available. At Jessup Basketball Court across from Hasbrouck, Monday 6PM. Beginners welcome.
Paddling
Beth (bak34) is opening the Wednesday Discovery Days (freshman orientation) paddling trip (kayaking and canoeing). Limit of 10, please e-mail her so she gets a headcount. Beebe Lake is a great place for learning kayaking skills (wet exits, strokes, rolls, etc), which is especially helpful if you want to get into whitewater. At Beebe Lake, next to Japes. Bring towel and swimsuit. Beginners welcome.

Hiking
Jason (jm349) is leading a local day hike, possibly from Treman to Buttermilk (12 mi). Saturday or Sunday, some transporation can be provided. Beginners welcome.
Caving
Kara (klp37) will go to the Fall NRO caving fest (http://www.caves.org/region/nro/). In Western Massachusetts, leaving around 9/15. Need some horizontal caving experience.

A woman died recently at Taughannock due to a rock fall. She was hiking past the "no hiking" sign. So, stay on the trails!
Trips past
Kara went to the Catskills. No caving happened, but she swam and hanged out with friends.
Simeon, Tom, and James kayaked before the meeting. Simeon did his first hand roll, and Tom executed his first roll.
Ari led a hikin / camping trip in the Adirondacks on Giant Mountain. The first day, they had an adventurous bushwack, and saw some gorgeous views. The second day, Leslie took a large group climbing, including many beginners.
Brendan and Lindsay hiked in the high peaks of the Adirondacks, around Great Range. They had some bear encounters ; fortunately, they had some bear canisters. They also did whitewater kayaking on the Sacandaga, and in Deerfield.
Jeff, Alan, and a few new students did a bike maintanence workshop in the morning with some new students, and went on a bike trip exploring the "one-lane bridges of Campus", and to the Ornithology lab.
