Gear night: Alan, Thursday 5-6PM

Announcements

  • We need leaders for orientation trips (August 23-24)! There is one each of hiking and biking, and two paddling trips. Information at OrientationDayTrips. Note that the hiking trip in the plantations is already planned, contact Lindsay for info (law35).
  • Put away gear after paddling! We found a paddle in the lake, and a few paddles left in weird places. Both members and O&C should sweep for equipment after paddling.
  • Jeff's donated hose leaks. We need a new hose.
  • Leslie needs educational programs, preferably ones that are given on-schedule.
  • Protests are continuing at Redbud woods. The reported agreement was reached with only some of the protestors. Undergrad research grants are available from the university to explore the transportation issues.

Trips that were

  • Brendan, Ari, Theodor, et al played unicycle hockey.
  • Jason and Ari swam at Ludlowville Falls, a cool swimming hole.
  • Ari Kara and Jason continued mapping the cave. They mapped 1200 ft, and found 300 ft of new passage.
  • Kyle summited Monte Rosa and Dom, the two highest peaks in Switzerland, and both near the Materhorn. Pictures online (http://isc.astro.cornell.edu/~don/pictures/album02)
  • (2 Sundays ago) Matt and Alan inline skated on the Cayuga Waterfront trail.

Trips that will be

  • Gorge cleanup (law35) will be on Thursday, July 28 or Thursday, Aug 4. Approximate time 4pm-dusk.

Trails

  • John (jmp72): Trail running, weather permitting. The plan is to have two groups of different abilities, a fast one and a faster one. This weekend.

Wheels

  • Neil (npp4): Bike around Cayuga (century ride). This weekend.

Paddling

  • Jim (jgj5): Beginner whitewater trip @ Salmon, and maybe Salmonfest. Saturday.
  • Beth (bak34): Full moonlight paddle on the full moon (July 21). If you've done this or organized this, contact her with info & suggestions on logistics.
