Announcements
Gear night Thursday 5-6 with Don.
Summer (or at least the summer session) is here, bringing with it lots of
new members-- welcome to JR, Ben, Dan, Cassidy, Lucy, Emily, and last but
not least, Jared and Karina, who met while rock climbing at Joshua Tree
(see? outdoor activities can help you find true love!).
Thursday at 7 pm is the annual and not to be missed Ithaca Festival
Parade! Brendan and others will be on unicycles, possibly wearing wings
and/or boats. Post parade pasta party at Simeon's.
Kara reports bottom-feeding sucker fish in Cascadilla Creek. Having
sex. It's cool.
Trips that was
Emilie and Leslie went climbing in the Dacks. It was wet.
Brendan, Beth, and Jim went [kayak] surfing. It was also wet.
Kara went hiking in the clouds on Mt. Graylock.
Simeon was in Alaska climbing and happily reports, "I came back with all
five fingers and toes!"
Matt went hiking and birding at Arnot Forest
Jason, Kara, and Emilie practiced surveying techniques at Lickbrook, in
preparation for a trip to survey virgin cave passage in Virginia that Jason
discovered a few months back.
Linz and Brendan unied (sp?) before the meeting, and many people paddled.
Trips to be
Ari (ate2) will be taking a one-day canoe trip next weekend (June 11 or 12)
to an undetermined location... e-mail him if interested
Emilie and Zay will be going "bushwhacking" in a marsh in Manlius (near
Syracuse) this Sunday. E-mail Emilie (emilie@physics.cornell.edu ) if you
want to be a fellow whacko-- er, whacker.
Dan (did4) has a cabin in Algonquin Provincial Park (Ontario) and wants to
plan trip/s there this summer. GREAT place for flat water canoeing.
"ROGAINE," an orienteering race/contest/thing will be happening at Sugar
Hill in a few weeks, sez Ben Blakely. Find more info at the CNY
Orienteering Club website (but you have to Google it yourself).
Linz invites all and sundry to plan trips to Australia to visit her
starting next fall. She'll be in northern Queensland. She will also be
poor but is willing to travel.
Rides available to exotic places this weekend: Brendan (bsk25) and Jim
(jgj5) are leaving Thursday after the parade and heading in the vicinity of
MD, VA, and WV. "You probably don't want to paddle with us," sez Jim, but
they're happy to give rides. Linz (law35) is going to PA.
Happy Ithaca Festival to all, and to all a good night!
