Trip Report: Cayuta Lake Paddling

Trip held on September 9, 2005. Meet at Japes 9:30AM, finish at Japes 5PM.

Details

We left Japes at 11AM, finished unloading gear at Japes around 5PM. Enjoyed pleasant paddle up the lake and followed Cayuta Inlet to the beginning of a gorge before turning around. On the lake we practiced a T-rescue for a canoe swamped in the middle of the lake.

Problems

We noted a low inventory of foam blocks at the club. We did not have foam blocks to transport more than 2 canoes with adequate stability. The 3rd canoe was transported by using improvised foam blocks not specifically designed to transport boats.
