(2004 13 July) After a long dicussion on trip leading policy, I think we decided:
each activity chair should have a list of approved people
each activity chair must approve all the trips going out in their area, aproval will be granted if either the main leader is an "approved" of person or if a co-leader has that desigantion.
no O&C shall check out gear for a trip unless they have received notification from the appropriate chair that the trip has been approved.
(2004 25 May) LeslieAckerman reported that she recalled an O&C discussion during the preceeding year deciding that Tuesday paddling sessions (in season) should be open to all, in the interest of recruiting new club members. Of course, the standard rules regarding wet exits would still be in place before kayakers would be allowed to use spray skirts.
(2004 May 12) In response to a posting by Doug Morrison advertising a Hoffman Challenge Course activity for a fee, Don Barry sent him a warning about violating COC policy on the listserv. He complained about inconsistent policy application. On COC-EXEC-L a discussion ensued and the general consensus was reaffirmed in messages by BrendanKelley, DonBarry?, MarcusCollins, MattSteven, and CharlieHagedorn that a "fee" by itself is not an impediment to an announcement, but one of the factors which define "commercial advertisements" (which are forbidden) especially when the announcer is not "leading" the trip. Here is the ListservPolicy.
(2004 Feb 26) In reply to a question about transferring/refunding partial membership fees, an initial decision was made by the President that these should be considered non-transferable, non-refundable. A chair pointed out that the waiver certainly could not transfer without new signatures being obtained.
