2007 Fall Semester Intro Trips

The club offers a number of introductory trips during freshman orientation week and in the first weeks of classes, when students have more time to get out and try some new activities. This page presents a growing list of planned activities and whom to contact if you're interested.

Fun Stuff

• Tuesday 9/11 from 5:30 to 7:30pm: Outing Club New Members BBQ! Come join in on the food, kayaking and canoeing, and slacklining! If you have any questions, contact Matt (mstillerman@gmail.com).

• Friday 9/21 - Saturday 9/22: Overnight trip to Hammond Hill. Definite BBQing and good times helping out with restoring the Outing Club's Cabin! Hiking and mountain biking opportunities. Let Tom (tgd8@cornell.edu) or Matt (mstillerman@gmail.com) know if you're going.

• Sunday 9/23: Day trip to Hammond Hill. Working on Plantation's cabin which we get to use for our trips in the area. Contact Ari (ate2@cornell.edu) if you're interested and also indicate if you have a car.

Backpacking

• Overnight camping on the Abbott Loop, Sat-Sun Sept 8-9. Please contact Rima (ecojockey@gmail.com).

Hiking

• Day hike, the Abbott Loop, Sunday September 2. Meet at Japes Lodge at 9:30 am, return in mid-to-late afternoon. Please contact Matt (mstillerman@gmail.com) if you plan to come.

• Sunday 9/2 @ 3pm: Cornell Natural Areas hiking. Email Tom (tgd8@cornell.edu) if you want to join in on the exploring!

• Wednesday 9/5 @ 5pm: Cornell Natural Areas hiking. Email Tom (tgd8@cornell.edu) to join.

Caving

• Saturday 9/8 - Sunday 9/9: Overnight beginner caving at Mystery/Surprise Cave with possible hiking in Shawangunks. Contact Ari (ate2@cornell.edu) for more info.

• Saturday 9/15: Fall NRO 2007 Intermediate Caving. Email Kara (klp37@cornell.edu) if you want to go with her.

Cycling

• Wednesday 8/29 @ 5pm: Mountain Biking trip to Shindagin Hollow. Email Brad at bpl24@cornell.edu if you'd like to join.

• Saturday 9/1 @ 11am: Road Biking, meet at the Commons. Email Sourish (sb349@cornell.edu) if you're going!

• Every Tuesday from 5:30 to 7:30pm: Cycling for all skill levels. Possible destinations might include Turkey Hill Rd or Mt. Pleasant. Contact Sourish (sb349@cornell.edu) if you want to join.

Climbing

• Friday 8/31 - Sunday 9/2: Intermediate Rock Climbing in the Adirondacks. Contact Brad (bpl24@cornell.edu) if you're interested.

• Friday 9/7 - Sunday 9/9: Rock climbing for all skill levels in the Adirondacks. We will leave Friday night, camp out for two nights, climb Saturday and Sunday, and return Sunday night. Contact Leslie (lackerman@alternatives.org)

• Saturday 9/15 - Sunday 9/16: Rock climbing for all skill levels at the 'Gunks. We're going to head into New Paltz Saturday night to catch a benefit slide-show about Patagonian climbing. Email Brad (bpl24@cornell.edu) if you want to join.

Paddling

• Every Tuesday 5:30 - 7:30pm: Paddling and Slacklining at Japes before the weekly meeting. No need to contact anyone, just show up!

• Saturday 9/1 - Sunday 9/2: Whitewater paddling at the Beaver Releases (class 3-4: not a beginner trip). Email Dan (did4@cornell.edu) or Jim (jgj5@cornell.edu) for more details.

• Sunday 9/2: Paddling to Farmer's Market 10am - 2pm or so. Email Ari (ate2@cornell.edu).
