Hike along the Fall Creek Valley

Saturday, October 21, 2006, 12:30PM to 5:30PM. Note starting location below (not Japes).

  • A dramatic, forested valley
  • Rushing waters
  • Fall colors
  • Cliffs

Come walk the Fall Creek valley, upstream from Cornell. You won't believe what a beautiful natural area we have right near campus. We will hike up the South side of the creek for about 4 miles and then come back down the North side, mostly in natural areas.

No need to sign up -- just show up. Friends, family, and non-students are all welcome. It's free. Organized by the Cornell Outing Club (cornelloutingclub.org).

Be sure to follow these important instructions for preparing:

  • The hike is about 8 miles, and will take about 4 hours of walking.
  • There are a few moderately steep portions.
  • Be sure to wear shoes or boots with good traction.
  • Eat a sustaining meal before the hike.
  • Bring lots of water to drink.
  • Bring something to eat.
  • Dress appropriately for the weather, with at least one layer you can add or remove as necessary.
  • As of Tuesday, the forecast is for partly sunny, highs in the mid 50s.
  • Starting location: Meet at Mann Library entrance at 12:30PM.
