Day Hike to Treman State Park
Here is a quick report on the hike we took in Robert Treman State park
on Sunday, September 18.
I met up with Matt and Bhuvanesh at Japes Lodge and the three of us
drove out to Robert Treman at around 12:30 in the afternoon. Upon
arriving we discovered that the upper portion of the Gorge Trail was
closed due to flooding, so we decided to start our hike on the Rim
Trail. After a bit of searching for the trail head, we began hiking up
the steep side of the gorge.
The weather was beautiful and we stopped to enjoy the many views along
the trail. At one point we were confronted with a seemingly endless
set of stone stairs, but were rewarded with a great view of Lucifer
Falls after making it to the top.
The Rim Trail ended at the upper parking lot, and we spent some time
looking at the old mill there before heading back down the trail the
way we had come. The Rim Trail intersected the open portion of the
Gorge trail a short way down, so to add some more variety to our hike
we took the Gorge Trail the rest of the way back.
We made it to the car around 4:00PM and headed back to Cornell. I
think I can speak for both Matt and Bhuvanesh when I say we had a
great time.
