Complete Instructions
Thanks to a subsidy provided by the Cornell Outing Club (COC) and Student Assembly Finance Commission (SAFC) and a special arrangement with Cornell Outdoor Education (COE), COC members can take the COE Wilderness First Aid course at significant discount. The cost to active club members is a mere $94! The regular rate for this course is $195 for students and $245 for non-students. Space is limited and only two courses remain in the spring semester, so you should sign up for a class now!
How to take the course and get the discount in 5 steps:
- Email the principal contact to apply for the subsidy and reduced rate for the course.
In order to take advantage of this opportunity you must first contact the COC education chair or other designated principal contact (see basic information for this information) to apply for the subsidy and discounted rate. Include in your email brief answers (a few sentences will suffice for each) to the following two questions:
- Describe your recent trip leadership experience, including trips led for COC. Specify what kind of and how many trips you have led.
- Describe what kind of trips you expect to lead for COC and how participation in a wilderness first aid could benefit those trips.
- Sign up for the COE course.
Email the enrollment coordinator for the course (see Basic Information for this contact) and explain you would like to take advantage of the club discounted rate ($165). We recommend that you enroll before the end of this semester. See above for available dates.
- Take the course.
- Print and fill out a COC reimbursement form, available online.
- Return the form along with proof of payment (a bursar bill, for example) to the reimbursement coordinator.
The treasurer or other designated reimbursement coordinator can reimburse you immediately.
