Gorge Cleanup Activities
Interested in volunteering? Willing to give back to the trails that traverse our beautiful Finger Lakes? Wondering how long it has been since you've visited Fall Creek? If yes, then you should join one of our fun cleanup activities. You should check this site regularly to make sure you are able to participate in an upcoming cleanup. Most cleanups will be held around Fall Creek, but some will be outside of the Cornell campus.
When participating in a cleanup, you should try to bring your own gloves, wear boots, bring water, and have a lot of enthusiasm. Usually, snacks will be available to keep the energy going. Below is a list of past and upcoming cleanup activities. Check it out.
Past Cleanups
Cleanup in Danby Forest - (November 12, 2005) Rima and Carlos biked uphill to the Danby Forest to meet Anne and Herbert at the Finger Lakes Trail in Bald Hill Road. The pick-up truck was loaded three times with debris and taken the the Solid Waste facility. Also, items such as TVs, an air conditioner, mattresses, tires, and an long list of more trashy items. Those items were left on the road and the Solid Waste Facility was informed about it. They picked it up in the morning of November 20th. The place is a site where illegal dumping happens often, so some extra cleanup activities might be organized there in the future.
Upcoming Cleanups
Soon to come.
